How long would it averagely take to learn the necessary programming/code/flash/html for website #1:
http://www.lesoireebanquethall.com/
and website #2:
http://www.chicowebdesign.com/
I already have the designing/hosting/domain aspects down but I want to just create the website core (see examples above) on my own, without having to sucker up to web designing services that offer templates, etc.. I have master cs5 but i was also wondering applications and (or) learning supplements should i read/watch.
I have no knowledge of html/flash coding/css/php/javascript/etc. Should I just purchase a template or is it feasible to just learn and create my own? I am really eager to learn to create my own (really similar to website #1) but if it is way too much work/hassle, might as well purchase a template.

I don't think apple cut Kanye's performance from the webcast just because of a few F-bombs. They cut it because it sucked. Not only in content, but in quality. I can't say I'm a huge hip-hop fan, but I do know a decent performance when I see it. That was more like bad karaoke. Even though I'm sure I wouldn't have liked his performance if it were his whole posse playing on a studio album, the setup they had didn't do him justice.
It was doomed from the start. Live hip hop acts rely heavily on the audience. The one present that day was not ready to "get down" with Kanye more or less sit there and watch it.

I apologise if I'm breaking your "rules" but I,m talking about the divide between charity i.e. helping those that are in dire need of help, they receive around 10% of U.S. charitable donations and the self serving tax racket with which the rich provide for them and theirs, the other 90%.In your somewhat confusing posts it appears it's OK to give to your own economic class for selfish reasons but not apparently to vote for a government which will pass legislation favouring your economic class. Incidentally by talking of lower and middle classes you are referring to social class not as should be apparent to most people economic classes. Also please refrain from quoting a romantic novelist in what should be a serious discussion.
I'm an individualist, I don't believe in 'social' classes, and use economic classes in general discourse only because it's useful in political discussion to be able to use generalizations in order to make conversation efficient and worthwhile. I believe individuals in a healthy free market generally determine their own fate.
I'd be interested in hearing more about your 90% vs. 10% numbers. Can you provide sources and clarify your position?

What about the Cisco AnyConnect app? I keep reading old news how it'll be released when iOS 4 is - so where is it? I want this but can't find it in the app store. Or is it something your network admin has to get from Cisco and install for you?

The AIRs are possibly the most improved machine Apple has e we come out with. Apple went from selling junk to selling a benchmark ultra portable machine.
Sadly I'm not in the market, mostly because I need far more secondary storage. That is certain to be addressed as flash shrinks. However I was actually disappointed that the recent MBP updates didn't take advantage of some of the ideas expressed in the AIR. It looks like Apples Mac Book Pro design team is a little stale.

I currently have a iMac, a Time Capsule and an Airport express that I have used to extend my wireless signal. I has been working perfectly for about 6 months. Now it has stopped working. The Time Capsule will not recognize my ethernet connection and is flashing yellow. I know my ethernet is working because my kids computer can get on the internet fine. But I can't get on the internet from my iMac. I have tried resetting the modem, unplugging, soft reset of TC as well as hard reset and no help. How can I get the TC to recognize it is connected to the ethernet? It may be simple but I am computer challenged. Any help would be appreciated.

Steal: To take (the property of another) without right or permission.
When you copy something, you're not taking it. The original is still there.
Steal: to take or appropriate without right or leave and with intent to keep or make use of wrongfully
This would include property, services, etc. By copying songs (software, bandwidth, comic material, etc.), you are essentially taking money that rightfully belongs to the owner of that material, who should have received some sort of royalty payment for the transaction.

Someone in a nearby lab threw out their Power Mac 7200/90 because they were tired of it. Apparently it runs, don't know what OS is on it, I'll fire it up and check it out next week, but if anyone's in the Montreal area and you're interested in it, it's all yours. I'll keep it for a couple of weeks, then I'll be the one trashing it.

So considering I will be attempting to buy an iPad 2 tomorrow (standing in line in the morning @ an apple store), will tomorrow be to late?

I'm not surprised to be honest. A friend of mine has one of the older Zune devices and while the interface for the device itself looks half decent it can be difficult to navigate and the software itself is bloated and slow.

That's good advice. Alternatively, if you just want to store the files as data, don't forget that the iPod also acts as a Firewire HD, so you can store them as both music and data, if you have the room. In iTunes, click the "Enable Firewire HD mode" in the iPod settings. It will appear on the desktop as a storage device then.

I'm hoping for a new, thinner, LED-backlit ACD with Ir and iSight, and HDMI...which I'm also hoping will be an option on the next-gen Mac Pro...which I'm hoping will be smaller (at least around the size of my trusty Quicksilver). I will then gladly purchase both.
That's a lot of hoping. Too much to ask for? Apple, are you listening? :-)
Oh, and WWDC sounds logical for this non-consumer setup to be announced.

Cheers for the info. Is there any way to get itunes to downscale to 16 bit in order for me to load onto an iPod? I don't want to move down to 128 kbps but something inbetween.

Does anyone know whether the Gateway will be opening early tomorrow for iPad 2 Sales?
Thanks
They said today they would open at the usual ten if they had any iPad 2 stock on Wednesday.

If a word processor can even be dumbed down, it's been poorly designed... Pages is my wp of choice now for just about everything. I find Word too noisy-- I have never used more than half the functions in Word (even after putting in a good effort to "learn to use them effectively").
I agree with the crowd that thinks compatibility is important. There's two levels of compatibility though-- functional and superficial. If they can make it functionally compatible with a reasonable subset of Excel functions, then it will be enough for me to use and share files.
There are times though when superficial compatibility is critical-- where it needs to print and format on another machine just the way you wrote it. I run into this problem with Keynote-- I can export something to Powerpoint to use as a starting point for cleanup, but it's rarely presentable straight from export.
right on ms word gives me a headache. i go from pages to word for phys class and it takes me longer to do it in word. iwork is good but it could be better. numbers will be welcomed addition, now i don't have to use excel

I'm just hoping they at least give us the OPTION to download HD movies soon (not for this product obviously, but just in general). Just like they have options for watching trailers, we should be able to download the HD version of a movie if we want to/our bandwidth can allow it. I'd actually buy movies of iTunes if this was the case!
I can only assume that we will see the current video resolution (which was only offered just recently) being offered for quite a while. We heard the same complaint with audio since they started offering music downloads without much, if any, increase in quality from Apple (maybe better compression algorithms but I don't think bigger files because of higher bit rates).
I do believe that the resolution that they sell on iTunes (640x480) hints towards what the resolution of this 'video' iPod will be. I'm sure that this decision was made with this device in mind.
Does anybody know what size screen this resolution would imply? How small can/should technology allow a 640x480 screen be?

I agree with what some posters have said in that this new device might not be a 6th Gen iPod, but a seperate device for those of us who want video, games etc.
Then there would be a choice of iPod for those who just want music, and ...er... 'vPod' for the people who want more of an iLife-portable.
That would certainly satisfy a lot of people with such a choice.
MA.
