what was I supposed to do? what forever for a reply that will never come just because it was posted on the wrong part of the forum?!
Come on!.. this is not corrective action, this is all the way rude.. :mad:There are standards of behavior for this forum. Everyone is expected to follow them, even if they are inconvenient. I was on the train to work that day when all a sudden, every cell phone in the train went off all at once. People were starting to talk about the WTC being hit with a plane, but nobody knew it was terrorism at that point. When I got to my stop (in the Financial District in Chicago's Loop), everyone was running up the stairs to get on the train. It was almost chaos. I went into my office and that's when I found out exactly what happened. The mayor then ordered everyone to evacuate downtown. I spent the rest of the day trying to contact friends in NYC who lived on Lower Manhattan. Little did I know I wouldn't be able to get in touch with them for over a week, due to the heavy phone traffic. It was a horrible, horrible day. Not knowing if my friends were OK was the worst though.

There used to be a chain of stores that let you listen to any CD in the store so you could see if you liked it. Not sure if there are any that still do that.

I have used PSPware since the app became available, although I use it rarely as I'm not doing a lot with media on my PSP. It works okay.

Just to let people know that the event in SF is getting some play in France as well. From Le Figaro, the daily images section is about Apple.
link (http://www.lefigaro.fr/images/20060913.WWW000000272_apple_collection_automne_hiver.html)
The last image is of various rumored iPhones...
Also, there was a pretty long article (http://www.lefigaro.fr/medias/20060913.FIG000000206_apres_la_musique_l_ipod_s_attaque_au_cinema.html), for those who care to read it in French.

If you are watching LiveTV over VPN DO NOT INSTALL THE Optimum LiveTV app update. I installed it and it breaks watching LiveTV over VPN. Luckily I had the app backed up and reinstalled the older version back on my iPad.

What gets me the most bang for my buck - upgrading to a SSD or upgrading RAM?
Slowness I'm seeing is with iPhoto - I'm thinking the bottleneck is the iPhoto library HD (800 GB of pix).

The 5G iPods still can't display any more than 320 x 240 pixels; the only way you'll be able to see the full 640 x 480 resolution is to output it to a TV or watch it on your computer.
I'm hoping that Apple will announce at MacWorld Expo that it's putting digital TV tuners in the 24" iMac. The tuners are cheap now and do NTSC, ATSC, and QAM (digital cable). Now that would be a good use for that big screen!

I thought that this thread is about ACDs and I believe that they are primarily used other than watching broadcast tv.
There are already displays with xvYCC and it's gamut is so big that 8-bit colors will show banding. 8-bits are enough for ntsc gamut, but not bigger.
Next versions of bd / hd-dvd specs will include xvYCC and h.264 broadcasts will probably use xvYCC also in the future.
ACDs are also used a lot in professional video post production and there is need for more than 8-bit colors. Also high quality photography needs more than 8-bits. All DSLRs have had deeper color depth than 8-bits from day one.
8-bits is enough when display's real contrast ratio is about 300:1, but when we already have displays that have contrast ratio way beyond that, there is banding on a carefully profiled display. 256 brightness levels just isn't enough. That's why sdi has had 10-bits for a decade.
So there really is need for more than 8-bits with displayport or any other way. Even average consumers will notice that within a lifetime of a new ACD.
When I buy expensive high quality devices like displays, I want them to be high quality at least half of their life, not just now.
We absolutely need more than 8 bits on the pro end. 8 Bits would also decrease the range between colors of similar composition and improve image editing.
However, I don't believe OSX and the adobe suite supports more than an 8 bit pathway at present. I could be wrong on this. I think vista does.

Did anyone else buy a new song? It seemed to me that when I picked up the new Bare Naked Ladies album it downloaded a lot faster and multiple songs at a time now.
I'd imagine they added some major infrastructure to support the movie downloads, so, I'm betting the downloads overall will be a LOT faster with their upgrades.

I want to get a medieval/fantasy game that's rated T and that's Under 60 dollars. -.- I got MW2 but It just doesn't do it for me. I'm a Rpg fan, and I don't want an M rated game, since my Parents are so gay about that. So Rated T - E. Anyone got any ideas?
Ps. Not soul calibur 4, already got that :P

I'd go with a combination of Propellorheads Reason & Ableton Live.
They are a pretty good combination for dance music with bands such as The Crystal Method and The Prodigy using Reason heavily on their most recent albums and likewise with Sasha, BT, Andy Page and Evil 9 using Ableton Live for Live gigs etc.
Alternatively Logic Audio or Cubase SX will also serve your boyfriend well :)

So I just got my apogee duet (it's from 2007 which previously belonged to my friend who passed it on to me). I have a Macbook Pro 10.6.4 version and the cable it came with is a 400-400 so I went out and bought a 800-400 cable for it to plug into my macbook. Heres the problem, as soon as I plug the firewire cable into the port my macbook completely SHUTS OFF/CRASHES. EVERYTIME where I can't get the duet working. I tried turning off my macbook THEN plugging the firewire into the port. After that I'll turn on my macbook and it will work with the firewire plugged in but that does not mean I can get it working. The firewire has to be unplugged then plugged back into to initiate a response to turn the duet on but NO, my macbook completely shuts off again. I haven't even gotten a chance to use this baby, I haven't been able to get it working/turn on even once.
What is the problem here?!

You reselling Ben? I may go grab a couple more
Ya I guess so, I am going there with some others Monday morning to buy as much as I can. I assume the limit two per person still applies. Your reselling as well I guess.

Bring it on. I need something new to replace my 3G 40GB iPod (last of the black and white screen). I wish the new iPods had a setting for that, so you could make all the menus black and white and only have photo and video play in color.
Anyway getting a black 2G Nano next month. But that's for the gym and snowboarding!!! And wouldn't you know it, it's snowing today!

Sadface. It wasn't ever a bad product; it was actually kind of cool, just poorly marketed and ill-prepared against the iPod juggernaut. They brought very little in the way of new things to the table. Also, who makes an MP3 player and doesn't give it Mac compatibility with how much the Mac install base keeps growing these days?
